826CHI's Free Summer Writing Programs Are Back!

‍826CHI's tuition-free writing programs are back for Summer 2020! Never been able to make it to our space? You can join us now as all of our programs will be virtual. We'll be offering a variety of programs for young writers beginning in July 2020.

A Glorious, Poetic Rage: Teen Writing Workshop - Summer 2020

Do you love writing? At 826CHI, we believe that the power of writing comes from community. We have all endured many changes so far in 2020 and writing is a way that we can make sense of this vastly changing world. As a group of writers, we will be exploring and responding to the events that have occurred this year and the art that has been healing us through this challenging time: visual art, music, video, writing, etc. and will be interviewing artists who have been leading our cultural moment.

By the end of the year, your work will be published and read by people all over the city. You’ll even get your own free copy to show off your work! This workshop is available to students entering 9-12th grade in the 2020-2021 school year.

Monday -Thursday: July 13-July 23 2020

Time: 11am-1 pm, unless otherwise noted.

Format: The workshop will be conducted via Google Classroom and students will meet virtually on Google Meet. Links will be provided in an acceptance email.

Limited to: 12 students entering grades 9-12

This workshop will be led by Kyla Pollard, teaching artist and former 826CHI Teen Writer's Studio student.
